Final Fantasy Commander Brings Legendary Heroes to Magic: The Gathering

Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Commander features four preconstructed decks that unite iconic Final Fantasy characters with Magic: The Gathering's Commander format, released on June 13, 2025. Commander players should care because these decks provide ready-to-play experiences packed with new cards, letting you pilot beloved heroes in multiplayer battles while exploring how Final Fantasy mechanics translate into strategic Magic play.

Revival Trance

Terra, Herald of Hope leads Revival Trance, a red-white-black Mardu deck inspired by Final Fantasy VI. This reanimator strategy emphasizes filling the graveyard and bringing back creatures — especially those with power three or less. Terra herself mills cards and reanimates via combat damage triggers, creating a recurring value engine. At the table, the deck plays as a resilient midrange deck that outvalues opponents by repeatedly recursing threats and using ETB effects, making it ideal for players who enjoy graveyard synergies and grindy, resilient games.

Limit Break

Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER commands Limit Break, a red-green-white Naya deck themed around Final Fantasy VII. Focused on Equipment, the deck rewards you for attacking with multiple equipped creatures, generating card advantage and other bonuses. Expect an aggressive combat strategy where you equip your team and go wide to overwhelm opponents. This precon feels great for players who want to suit up heroes and push for combat damage in a classic aggro shell with strong Final Fantasy flavor.

Counter Blitz

Tidus, Yuna's Guardian pilots Counter Blitz, a green-white-blue Bant deck drawing from Final Fantasy X. The core strategy revolves around +1/+1 counters, moving them between creatures, and proliferating. Tidus enables counter relocation and rewards combat damage with card draw plus proliferate. The deck plays as a combat-focused aggro deck that grows an increasingly threatening board of pumped creatures, perfect for players who enjoy building up their team and swinging big in the late game.

Scions & Spellcraft

Y'shtola, Night's Blessed heads Scions & Spellcraft, a white-blue-black Esper deck inspired by Final Fantasy XIV. This noncreature spells-matter strategy uses spellcasting to gain life, deal damage to opponents, and draw cards when life is lost across the table. It functions as a control-oriented value engine that grinds out advantage through removal, draw, and incremental pressure. Piloting this deck feels rewarding for players who prefer casting a wide variety of spells while maintaining board control in longer games.
