The Mechanical and Flavor Identity of Shadows over Innistrad
Shadows over Innistrad captures creeping dread and psychological horror in Magic: The Gathering. It reintroduces the Madness mechanic, allowing cards to be cast for an alternative cost when discarded. The set features Delirium, which grants bonuses when four or more card types are in your graveyard, along with returning Transform double-faced cards focused on werewolves, vampires, and horrors. These mechanics, combined with strong tribal themes and investigation flavor, evoke a world sliding into chaos and madness.
