The War for Jamuraa Rages in Magic: The Gathering Visions
Magic: The Gathering's Visions set is set on the plane of Dominaria, on the continent of Jamuraa, where the nations of Zhalfir, Suq'Ata, and the remnants of Femeref struggle amid political upheaval and the schemes of the sorcerer Kaervek.
Kaervek's Tyranny and the Betrayal of Jolrael in Visions
In the central conflict of Visions, the war in Jamuraa continues against the evil Kaervek after the destruction of Femeref. Internal problems plague Suq'Ata and Zhalfir. Kaervek's ally Jolrael betrays him at the urging of the planeswalker Teferi. Guided by Jolrael's visions, Jamuraa's leaders free Mangara from the Amber Prison and unite to fight against Kaervek.
Cumulative Upkeep, Phasing, and Enter-the-Battlefield Effects in Magic: The Gathering Visions
As the second set in the Mirage block of Magic: The Gathering, Visions builds on established mechanics without introducing new keywords. It continues Cumulative Upkeep, Flanking, and Phasing while featuring many creatures whose abilities trigger upon entering the battlefield. These enter-the-battlefield effects allow creatures to mimic instants or sorceries, creating a gameplay identity of versatile, reactive forces that echo the political visions, betrayals, and shifting alliances across Jamuraa. Flavorfully, the set reinforces themes of foresight, imprisonment, and liberation through its creature-focused design and returning block mechanics.
