Searching Combos by a Single Card
Search Combos by Card starts from one card instead of a deck. Type a card name and it searches the whole Commander Spellbook database for every catalogued combo that uses it, whether or not you own the other pieces — useful when you have a card you want to build around.
Running a search
On nerdleagues.com/combos, choose Search Combos by Card and start typing; the field suggests card names. Find Combos returns twenty at a time, and Load More shows how many are left. Signed out, you see the first three.
Results look the same as deck results — bracket tags, produced effects, mana needed, per-piece prices with a combo total, and TCGPlayer and Cardmarket links. There is no 1 Card Away tab, since there is no deck here to be one card away from.
Adding a whole combo to a deck
Search results carry their own action: Add Combo to Deck, which puts every piece into one of your decks at once. The modal has two halves:
- Pick a Deck — your decks, with a search box for filtering.
- Combo Pieces — every card in the combo, each with a zone dropdown: Main, Sideboard, Maybeboard, Command Zone, or Companion. Cards already in the deck are shown with an In deck note and start unticked.
Add Selected to Deck commits the ones you ticked. Sending pieces to the Maybeboard records the combo against the deck without changing the list you are playing.
This is not the overlay's filter
The deck builder's Combos overlay has a Filter combos by card box that looks similar. That one narrows the combos already found in your deck down to a single card. This search queries the entire database, most of which your deck does not contain.
Use the filter to understand a card you already run. Use the search to find one you do not.
